A new upcoming app that will make outdoor exploring safer.

What is Modern Compass?

Modern Compass is a cross-platform outdoor activity companion app for outdoor users of all levels. The mobile app features assigning an emergency contact with the abilities to track the users GPS location and footprints.

Workflow

The project is being developed by a four man team. This project utilizes crowdsourcing to support the various amount of outdoor activities for users.

Through agile development, my role is to make sure we are developing an application to satisfy the users’ needs. In each phase of production, we perform usability testing for each feature and conclude whether or not it is essential to our goals in Modern Compass.

Personas

I conduct interviews with our target audience to build personas. Through the information that is gathered, I am able to identify designs to accommodate the needs of potential users.

I drafted numerous low-fidelity wireframes before creating mockups in Adobe Experience Design CC. Through design reviews, we are able to achieve a simple, smooth, modern UI based on Material Design.

Conclusion

Modern Compass is still in development and plans to release the beta in December. Modern Compass is constantly evolving with the current trends. Our team is very passionate about this project and will continue to adapt its design to improve the application and better serve our users.
